Inspiration more often than not leads to more inspiration and the creative
energy that went into developing the Music Player inevitably lead to the
creation of its perfect partner, The Power Plant.
While the digital age has been with us
for quite some time now, rarely have the golden ears of audio been
comfortable with the notion of a digital amplifier for a high performance
music system. Rightly so, as few
high-end audio companies have both the engineering and financial resources
to develop reference level digital amplifiers and in fact, until recently
technology had not yet provided the parts required to design such a device.
Indeed, Theory and Application has patiently waited many years for technology to catch
up to the discerning music lover’s high expectations, but now using the new
ultra fast chips that are just now becoming available on the market, Theory
and Application can
exercise their engineering skill to build a switch mode amplifier design
that embodies the technical qualifications and performance qualities
required to be labeled Theory and Application. The aptly named Power Plant is enormously
powerful, with dynamics that make the music seem to jump from the
speakers. The super efficient
Power Plant will bring the music provided by the Music Player to life.
The Power Plant is an integrated
amplifier; this means that all control functions are included in the
component. The pre-amplifier
section was developed in the tradition of Theory and Application’s legendary transistor and
valve amplifier designs. The emphasis is on optimum sound quality,
neutrality, and ultra-wide dynamic range.
The very finest motorized two-stage ALPS precision potentiometer is
used for volume control, and all input switches use gold contact relays,
ensuring freedom from background noise as well as an extremely long
operating life. A sophisticated
toroid transformer feeds a massive power supply, which is the heart of any
electronic component, with buffering at every gain stage ensuring that
extremely high power reserves are available at all times.
So when you’re in the mood, The Power Plant knows how to party, with
almost 500 watts to make your speakers sing.
The new switch mode output stages
developed for the Power Plant represent a further development of the superb
power amplifiers that are used in their high-end TCI 2A active loudspeakers.
The Theory and Application switch mode amplifier stage not the commonly used “off-the-shelf”
ready-made digital amplifier chips available as kits to electronics
manufacturers. These new switch
mode output stages are discrete amplifier modules developed entirely in-house, where
Theory and Application can define all
the design and performance parameters of the circuit.
The result of all this innovation is typically Theory and
Application:
high resolution, dynamic, smooth, and thoroughly engaging.
The Power Plant offers state of the art technology and efficient, cool
running performance. The Music Player
offers convenient and diverse music processing for every important musical
source. Together, The Music Player
System is the perfect answer for today’s savvy music lover. The best music
reproduction has always relied on innovation, and the new suite of E series
products from Theory and Application beautifully represents the future of high-end audio.
