The Music Player Connections
|
Analog Out The two RCA connectors labeled R and L are to be connected with high quality interconnects to the input on your receiver, integrated amplifier, or pre-amp labeled CD or Disc. If you own a T+A Power Plant, the input is labeled Disk/Music Player. The quality of the interconnect used to connect the Music Player to a component has a significant influence on the sound quality. Please consult with your dealer to determine the best cable for your system.
The Analog Out section can be configured to be either a fixed level output, or a variable level output. The variable output configuration is for a situation where the Music Player can be used with active self amplified loudspeakers. In this case, the volume of the music would be controlled with the volume buttons on the T+A F100 remote control handset. When connected to the partnering T+A Power Plant via the E Link cable, the Music Player auto-configures to a fixed level output. The factory default configuration is for variable output. If you are not using the Music Player with either the T+A Power Plant or active loudspeakers, please re-set the analog output to a fixed level configuration by pressing the “SYS” button located in the Menu box on the F100 remote control.
When the new menu comes up, cursor down to the Audio Volume
Menu Point, highlight it by pressing the OK button on the remote
control, and using the right cursor button, change the setting from
Auto/Variable to Maximum/Fixed.
Press the OK button to confirm the setting and then press the
Stop button on the remote to return to the main menu screen.
Note: If the
Music Player is connected to the Power Plant via the E Link cable,
the Audio Volume Menu Point will not be available in the menu
system. |

FM Antenna
This is where an FM specific antenna such as a simple
“T”
style or 75 ohm coaxial cable is attached. Often, you can use your
TV cable box to receive an FM feed, but a quality external FM
antenna will yield superior results.
Like the interconnect cable for the analog outputs, a high
quality antenna, and proper placement and aiming of the antenna,
will dramatically increase the reception capability, and in turn the
sound quality when playing back standard reception FM stations.
Consult with your dealer for the best high performance
antenna solution for your situation. |

FM/DAB Antenna
This available slot is for future connection for HD Radio
connectivity. Check the
web site for future news on when this will be available. |

Digital Out
This RCA connector is for outputting the SPDIF digital signal from
the Music Player.
Particular attention has been given to ensure that the digital
signal coming from the Music Player
is jitter free.
This connection can be used for output to a digital recording
device, or another Digital to Analog (DAC) converter. |
|
Digital In
Both SPDIF and TOSLINK digital signals may be fed into the Music
Player. This is where
you would connect a home non-networked digital source such as a
Digital Cable TV box to play it
back through the Music Player. When connected here, the
source device determines what will be played back on the Music
Player. So if your
cable box is connected to either the TOSLINK or SPDIF inputs, and
you have selected one of the DIG 1 or DIG 2 inputs on the front of
the Music Player, and Digital channel 883 on your cable box, that’s
whet you’ll
hear. Change the
channel on the Cable Box and the change will be heard on the Music
Player. |
|
LAN
Local Area Access Ethernet connection.
This is where you connect the network router to the Music
Player for a hard-wired connection.
Note, you cannot connect your computer to the LAN input.
The connection must go through a network router.
By connecting an Ethernet cable to the Music Player, the
Music Player’s
Wireless circuitry is turned off.
Unplugging the Ethernet cable will turn back on the Wireless
circuitry. |
|
WLAN
Wireless Local Area Network
The Music Player’s
included wireless network antenna is attached here to the small gold
threaded connector. Be
sure to not cross thread the connector when installing, and thread
the connector all the way to a snug fit.
Make sure, that if your want to connect wirelessly to your
network, an Ethernet cable must not be plugged into the LAN
connector on the Music Player.
The Music player will first search for a LAN connection.
If an Ethernet cable is attached, the wireless circuitry will
not be turned on, and a wireless connection cannot be made. |
|
USB
The USB connection is for attaching USB stick or USB hard drive
devices. This
connection is not for connecting the output of a computer for a
USB/DAC scenario. When
this connection type is used, the Music Player is the control device
and it will access and display the folder selection available to be
played. Note: this will
display and make available the music folders and contents in the
fashion they are organized on the USB device.
When connected, USB will show up on the main screen along
with the standard Internet Radio and Favorites choices. |

MAC Address Sticker This sticker has the MAC address of that particular machine. The MAC address is the electronic identification number, unique to that device. |
|
RS 232
The RS 232 connection is for firmware updates to portions of the
Music Player, as well as, bi-directional communication to external
control devices such as RTI , Savant, Crestron or AMX. |
|
E Link
The supplied RJ-12 cable connects here from the Power Plant to
provide full control synchronization of the machines and the F 100
remote control. The
Power Plant will not be controlled with the F100 remote unless this
connection is made. |

|
IEC Power Receptacle
This is where the supplied power cord is plugged into the Music
Player from the AC wall socket.
Here too, the quality of the power cable can play a
significant role in the performance of the Music Player, and your
dealer should be consulted for advice on the best high performance
after-market solution for your system. |

Power Switch
This rocker switch is the main power switch for the Music Player.
When switched in the down position, the Music Player cannot
be turned on. When
switched in the up position, the Music Player can be turned on using
